starbucks stockholder shot

when my phone started ringing.
I turned off the weed eater and by the time I made it to the phone it stopped
ringing. So I called back but was interrupted by another call coming in.
I didn't manage to finagle that call either. So I tried to call back.
but got a busy signal... then I went back to my self designed busy chore
of beautifying the space she has made in the wood behind her house.

Kat comes from the house hollaring to call Andy or Melissa--Brigitte has
been robbed, and injured, and I must get her car
I'm shaking, the weed eater is on the ground.
I can't seem to reach anyone by phone.
Where was Brigitte?

Kat calmed me. Focus, center. Where is Brigitte?
I pictured her on the floor of the house and what ...
I must get her car. So where was she?

I left the house after she did... I declined going to the
Starbucks tasting. Finally, Anna gets ahold of me.
Lord. Word travels fast. I finally am ready to head to the house, and Anna
will meet me there. Love and Light says Kat.

The car is at Starbucks Anna tells me.
The car isn't at Starbucks when we get there.
Inside Starbucks I'm told her brother picked up the car.

Some fellow car-jacked a car on 52nd street. Drove south on College
went through the drive through at Starbucks,
backed into a parking space. Walked to Brigitte and Carley's table
showed them a gun. Told them he had to take their purses.
Brigitte objected. Said just take the money, leave me my purse.
The guy grabs the purses. Runs. Brigitte runs after him.
The guy fires a shot. Brigitte has her hand on the purse.
He turns around and shots her in the leg.
Broke the leg, shattered the bone. She is in surgery
8 hours after the event. They plan on putting a
titanium 'nail' in the leg they then screw the shattered pieces too...
She will be in the hospital for at least two days.

So life changes. She is in charge.
I think
I need to move the bed downstairs.
She thinks not. maybe not.

ouch ouch ouch ouch

the television news tells of Starbucks customer shot.
Not good for Starbucks... and this one is in a questionable urban
area owned by none other than former basketball legend Magic Johnson as his
effort to reclaim those urban areas... I don't want that to stop
Actually this coffee shop is about 6 blocks from the house
she purchased to move into... after it is gutted and redone for us.
And she has no intention of letting this persuade her to drop that
project. Love it. "My being shot has nothing to do with the neighborhood."
And... "I know I'm lucky."
